jazz re:freshed presents… Groundation



Last year, acclaimed bassist, educator, arranger, mentor and band leader, Gary Crosby had audiences dancing in the aisles of some of the UK’s most prestigious venues for his 31-piece Jazz Jamaica All Stars extravaganza, Catch A Fire.

For 2013, he shifts focus to his new compact, more intimate project: Groundation which he describes as a ‘group discussion’ between himself (double bass), award-winning hornsman Nathaniel Facey (alto sax), and rising stars Shirley Tetteh (guitar) and Moses Boyd (drums).

Groundation play progressive jazz with some Afrobeat accents interspersed with thoughtful ballads.

We were privileged to have this fantastic outfit grace the jazz re:freshed stage last week Thursday (08.08.13). Here’s a little taste…
