JAZZ RE:FEST – United Vibrations

United Vibrations are a band on a mission. They are a a band in demand, a band on the rise and one of the UK’s hottest young talents. They have a unique sound and philosophy, that is a coming together of all the influences that have made them, as musicians and as human beings.

What people say…

Deep down in darkest Deptford, South London, United Vibrations are readying their debut album. Amalgamating a wealth of influences, the record is et to seal their promise as one of the most exciting bands in the UK today…Blending mastery of their respective instruments with their hypnotic chants. UV offer far more than many comparative acts. Able to work as an impeccably well-layered ensemble.
– Ben Verghese – SHOOK! Magazine

United Vibrations honed their sound playing to all and sundry on the streets of south London. Their long-incubated album is a success they are eager to build on – in more ways than one.
The practice has paid off. UV release their first album, ‘Galaxies Not Ghettos’…After eight years the band agree they have finally found their voice. And a unique voice it is.
Their success is underpinned by a community ‘self-build’ scheme undertaken by the brothers’ parents more than 20 years ago.

– Helena Drakakis – The Big Issue

…the best group I’ve seen in this country since . . . ever. United Vibrations are genuinely the most important band to come out of the UK since the big rock bands of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.”
– Daniel Crosby – Jazz Reloaded

“Massively in demand as a live band for a long time now, and with their long awaited debut album, ‘Galaxies Not Ghettos’, causing reviewers to fall over each other to eagerly sing their praise, United Vibrations’ afro-beat-in-a-punk-style musicianship and poetry-come-philosophy lyrics seem to strike a cord with people from all walks of life, regardless of backgrounds.

It is the commentaries presented in the band’s lyrics, the incredible insight of the word-craft, which you’ll find rolling around your head for weeks to come.”
– Panda-vs-iPod

In their own words…

United Vibrations have arrived. Born from Inner Space, we are on a journey of cosmic proportions.

Music is our vessel. A sound forged from diversity. We are united in voice and rhythm.

Our sound is cyclic. Any linear perceptions of ‘genre’ or ‘style’ do it no justice.

For pragmatic reasons, we call it 12Tone.

Our current location is London, England. It is here that we have been inspired by the beats and harmonies of the world. We are the product of a cultural fusion, which knows no boundaries – only possibilities. Echoes of our ancestors can be heard if you listen closely. We are the continuation of an aural tradition, which goes way back beyond recorded history.

Cosmodelic Afro-Punk, Mulatto music, whatever you want to call it – it is HERE and it is NOW!

United Vibrations are:

Ahmad Dayes (Trombone & Vocals),

Wayne Francis (Saxophone & Vocals),

Yussef Dayes (Drums & Vocals), Kareem Dayes (Bass & Vocals)

…and YOU (Participant, Listener, Observer and Creator).
